In late 2020, Apple adjusted pricing for the Indian AppStore which raised the pricing for Monthly and Yearly subscriptions.
Starting tomorrow: 5th Jan, 2021 I’ve calibrated the amounts back to the original pricing. This resets the monthly pricing back to INR 79/month. Most other regions will remain unaffected. The yearly pricing has been reduced for most regions though.
Apple has recently accepted me in their Small Business Program, which makes this recalibration possible for me, so I can forward these savings to you, my customers.
Thank you for your continued support, happy reading!
A recent minor change in Apple’s Receipt Verification process left a lot of existing and new users with a non-working app.
I did not catch this change until two users emailed me about being unable to use the app or sign up.
I noticed today morning that a lot of new users havent been able to sign up for the Free Trial either.
I have fixed this issue and new signups are now working as expected. If you tried signing up in the last two days or havent been able to use the app due to expired subscription errors, just restore your purchases from within the app.
I apologize for not catching this issue in time. Happy Reading.
Colin Devroe writing on his blog,
When people subscribe to more than just a few sites it quickly can be overwhelming to people that don’t like to wake up to “inboxes” with 300 unread count. People just abandon those. It is why Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. all use algorithms to select which content people should see when they open the app.
He also goes on to give his personal preference of having all articles listed in reverse chronological order. So do I. But do you wish Elytra surfaced things a little differently?
We should likely stop talking about RSS. We need to simply start calling RSS “Subscribing”. “Subscribe to my blog” is the only thing we need to say.
Yes, this change needs to happen. Lets make it happen.
Mean while, I’ll be in my corner finishing v1.2 of Elytra.
